WANTED

Experienced Bicycle Mechanic & Salesperson

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

Casual, potentially 4 days a week with a view to becoming permanent part-time/full-time 5 days a week.

JOB SUMMARY

Your role will include servicing a wide variety of bikes, including high-end custom builds, covering everything from mountain and road bikes to tourers and commuters.

You will also be covering retail sales, and dealing with a wide range of cyclists.

We pride ourselves on our customer service and attention to detail, and are looking for a passionate, friendly and professional person to join our close-knit team.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Excellent knowledge of bicycle mechanics, and substantial bicycle workshop experience.
  • Experience in customer service and retail sales, including computer skills and typing proficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and learning in increasing your skills as a mechanic.
  • Excellent organisational skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and to a schedule.
  • Someone who takes a lot of pride in their work, and maintains a high level of attention to detail.
  • Someone who is passionate, reliable, highly motivated and able to follow directions well.
  • Someone who is willing to be involved in all aspects of the workshop and shop floor.
  • Someone with a passion for bikes and cycling. It’s particularly advantageous to be interested in touring and commuting cycling.
  • Someone looking for a long-term position and a career in the bicycle industry.

NOTE: we know that not everyone is going to have the level of skill we ultimately need, but as long as you have a solid base knowledge and previous bike mechanic experience, this is your chance to become an expert!

After buying a brand new bike from overseas, I was very disappointed with the brakes. I took it to my LBS and was told to throw the brakes away and put some others on it.
