Why Simon changed his mind
Simon originally walked into our shop to check out the Genesis Croix de Fer 20 Flatbar, a lovely cromoly gravel grinder and one of our best-selling steel models.
Although he thought it looked pretty good, he wasn't sure if he wanted to pay $2500 for a new bike, which was fair enough.
On his way out, Simon spotted this Bossi Grit in the window, and was captivated by the shiny titanium and CNC-ed Garbaruk components.
It was several times the price of the Genesis.
"I've changed my mind," he said. "Build me one of those."
So we did.
Simon wanted a fast, awesome-looking, flat-bar Bossi that could handle everything from fire trails to single track. He also requested some green colour accents, which would look stunning set against the titanium and black.
A mixed SRAM and Garbaruk groupset was the perfect choice, keeping things light and sleek while delivering both the gear ratios Simon needed for varied terrain and that premium aesthetic that caught his eye in the first place. (When you've fallen for the Garbaruk look, there's no going back....)
The cockpit needed to be comfortable for long adventures: Aerozine flat bars for control and confidence, paired with an alloy Easton stem and pressure-relieving SQLab 711 grips. No sore hands on this build.
Easton's strong EA70 AX gravel wheels are always a solid choice for a build like this: they're tough enough for rough terrain but smooth enough for all-day comfort, whether Simon's tackling sketchy gravel descents or cruising back home on tarmac.
Finally, those finishing touches that make it truly Simon's: a green Garbaruk top cap, SQLab 60X saddle for comfort, and hand-painted green frame accents that perfectly complement the titanium's natural beauty. The result? A flat-bar Bossi that's ready to roll wherever adventure calls.
Sometimes the best decisions are the ones that surprise you.
