A shift in the titanium market

Setting the bar for Australian-designed titanium frames, Bossi makes dreams come true. Whether you're looking for an all-day gravel grinder, adventure rig or stunning road bike, let us custom-build something just for you. Your forever bike starts here.
Titanium is genuinely special as a frame material. It's lighter than steel, stronger than aluminium, corrosion-proof, and has a natural compliance that takes the edge off rough roads in a way that other materials struggle to match.
For the bike industry, the problem has always been the price tag.
Fortunately, Bossi set out to change that.
The BMCR/Bossi story started back in 2019 when a customer brought us a Bossi frame to build up. We were immediately struck by the frame quality, the finish of the welds, and the attention to detail. We got in touch with James Bossi shortly after, and have been happily building Bossis in out Adelaide workshop ever since.
James is obsessive about detail (to put it mildly). Every possible aspect of design, production and creation is examined, tested and re-examined. Every frame goes through eight quality control inspections during and after production. Bossi also offer a 50-year warranty on their frames, something that’s almost unheard of in this industry, and a reflection on how seriously they take their work.
Titanium frames used to come via artisan builders producing small runs at eye-watering prices. Bossi changed the market by partnering with world-class manufacturers, maintaining exceptionally high standards, and bringing you a beautiful frame that doesn't require a second mortgage.
For many riders, titanium is the holy grail of frame materials, and for good reason.
Titanium has an exceptional fatigue cycle, and looks beautiful for decades. It has the strength and durability of steel without the weight, it absorbs road vibration, and it's genuinely inert: it does not – and will never – rust. (If you ride near the coast or anywhere roads get salted in winter, this last part matters more than you might think.)
A well-made titanium frame is the last frame you'll ever need to buy.
The catch with ti has always been the price. Titanium is expensive to source and notoriously difficult to weld. (Basically, the very properties that make it so durable also make it hard to work with.)
This is also why a good cheap titanium frame simply doesn't exist. We've had plenty of budget ti frames through our Adelaide workshop over the years, and they're invariably full of manufacturing flaws. This has also been exacerbated by the explosion over the past few years of the titanium bike market. Raw titanium frames are flooding in from all directions, and quality varies enormously. This is exactly why Bossi's obsessive approach to manufacturing matters so much.
Bossi has always been a standout, not because of aggressive marketing but because the frames speak for themselves. Rather than being engineered for wind tunnels and spreadsheets, Bossi frames are built for the real world: fast, comfortable, durable and genuinely enjoyable for years on end.
And that’s exactly what we want our custom bike builds to be, too.
You guys are amazing! Best service I have had in a long time in any shop and easily best service I have ever had a bike store. Great communication, listened, reasonable priced. You absolutely nail everything. My friends had all said great things about you and they under-sold the service. Very…Tristan Johnstone
