Gothic Cycles Aix Frame Details

The Aix is Gothic Cycles' flagship carbon gravel frame. It's light, fast, and fully customisable from the ground up.

Whether you want Shimano or SRAM, 700c or 650b wheels, a sleek two-tone paint job or something completely insane, the Aix can be built almost any way you want it.

Every Aix is built to order at our Adelaide workshop by the mechanics who designed it.

No cookie-cutter builds, no mass-market compromises.

The frame

The Aix is a carbon gravel frame that's light, stiff, and fast, with excellent power transfer and acceleration.

The geometry sits in that sweet spot between responsive and comfortable: agile enough to race, comfortable enough to ride all day and ignore phone calls from your family wondering where you are. Not an ultra-twitchy race bike, not a sluggish trail bike. The Aix is a bike that does exactly what you ask of it.

Tyre clearance runs to 50c front and 45c rear on 700c, or 2.1" on 27.5, making it versatile without morphing into a mountain bike. You'll also love the threaded bottom bracket shell. No clicks! No creaks! No being side-eyed by your riding friends as That Guy or Gal!

The frame is compatible with both 700c and 650b wheels, including mixed setups if that's your thing. (Who are we to judge.)

Built by mechanics, not by a marketing company

Every detail of the Aix has been considered from a mechanic's perspective.

Steel bolts are replaced with titanium or aluminium equivalents on every build above base spec, not because it saves kilos, but because why carry unnecessary weight?

As you'd expect from us, each frame and fork is fully prepared before the build begins: head tube reamed, bottom bracket shell faced, disc mounts faced, alignment checked. It's the kind of preparation that prevents random noises, makes bearings last longer, and makes brakes work quietly and powerfully.

There are no proprietary parts or gimmicks on the Aix. You're not locked into any weird system. It's just a bike that works properly, and keeps working. If something needs replacing, you'll find a solution without hunting through obscure forums at 2am. Everyone sleeps better.

What You Say

Everything is going well and it's performing like new. You really notice the difference with the smoothness and lack of friction on the replaced chains and cogs; it gives a much nicer ride. So, only compliments from me for a job well done.Simon Neldner
