Light, fast and beautiful
Daniel wanted a lightweight machine that would let him tackle the hills. Although it would be predominantly used for road riding, he also wanted the flexibility to go offroad.
We started with an Open U.P. to give the lightness and ride quality Daniel was after, as well as the option to go to bigger tyres or gravel wheels down the track for any offroad adventures.
As Shimano GRX Di2 offers a wider range of gearing than Ultegra -- and electronic shifting is the only way to go, budget permitting -- this was the natural pick for the groupset. Daniel also wanted to keep an eye on his training goals, so we paired the GRX groupset with a Stages power meter for data and feedback.
Daniel was very keen on Zipp wheels, so his wish was our command. (This is a great example of the benefits of a custom build: you have complete control over the customisation, so you end up with exactly what you want.)
For finishing touches, we opted for some excellent Syntace, Tune, SQ Lab and Easton products to round out the build.
The result was a light, sleek beast -- an amazing bike to ride for many years to come, and a very happy customer.
