Simon's Bossi Summit

Fast, sleek and smooth as silk

Home / Custom Builds / Simon's Bossi Summit

The brief

Simon was clear about what he wanted: a road bike that could handle long days in the saddle. As an endurance rider, he needed something that would be fast and sleek, but also comfortable enough for those epic rides where the hours just tick by.

The answer? A Bossi Summit titanium all-road bike.

The bike

There's something magical about titanium. It's not just the way it looks (though let's be honest: it looks incredible), it's the way it rides. That beautiful, smooth feel was exactly what Simon was after for his endurance adventures.

For the groupset, we went with Shimano Ultegra Di2 – the perfect balance of performance, reliability and that crisp shifting that makes every gear change effortless. (Especially appreciated when you're deep into a ride and want everything to work seamlessly.)

The contact points also needed to be spot-on for those long hours in the saddle. An SQLab 612 Active road saddle provided the perfect balance of comfort and performance, while Easton's EC70 Aero carbon handlebars kept things light, sleek and comfortable. We paired those with an Easton EA70 stem and finished with Ciclovation Velvet Touch handlebar tape in classic black. (Hey, sometimes the classics are classic for a reason.)

For the wheels, we went full custom: hand-built with lightweight Tune KillHill and ClimbHill hubs laced to Bossi carbon rims to deliver the perfect combination of speed, strength and style. Continental GP5000 tyres complete the package. As all roadies know, they're simply one of the best road tyres you can get.

A Newmen carbon seatpost keeps things comfortable, while some special finishing touches make this build truly Simon's own: a beautiful Garbaruk top cap, a Tune carbon bottle cage, and hand-painted black sparkle frame details to give it that extra bit of personality without being overwhelming.

The result is a titanium road bike that's fast when Simon wants to push the pace, but smooth and comfortable for those epic endurance rides.

But what does Simon think?

"Took the Bossi for a ride in the Adelaide Hills on the weekend. Norton Summit, Old Freeway then back. Silk! This beast is so smooth! Getting used to Di2 gear changes, that will come with time. All in all I am so happy, thank you and Pete so much for your help and guidance through this journey."

Our pleasure, Simon!

What You Say

Just got home now after going the "long way home" and just wanted to let you know the Surly is back to form after the service you did today. The gears are changing without a hitch again, all bearings are running as smooth as silk again, and the wheels are true and tight. So thanks again…Andrew Graham
