The brief

Philip was looking for a road bike which would be up to the demands of his training and racing regimen.

Being a cyclist with very specific taste, he knew exactly the kind of running gear he wanted, and was keen for a Bossi to complete the picture.

Philip is also a gentleman who's capable of putting a lot of torque through a bike (read: he's an absolute unit), so we needed to make sure his custom build would match his considerable output.

The bike

The Strada is Bossi's road frame; by going with the Classic model, we could save some money here to be spent elsewhere (e.g. the groupset).

Shimano's electronic Ultegra Di2 groupset was the obvious choice for a groupset. After all, when you're racing, don't want to have to worry about slow shifts or gear trimming.

For race wheels, we hand-built a set with DT Swiss 350 hubs and carbon Mavic rims, topped with Vittoria Corsas, Philip's tyre of choice.

We added a Syntace triple-threat—handlebars, stem and the famous P6 HiFlex carbon post—before rounding it off with Philip's favourite SQLab saddle.

Finally, the fun bit: custom touches in Philip's favourite colour. (You can probably guess what it is.)

We started with some Garbaruk bits—top cap, jockey wheels and lock ring—to match the stunning Ciclovation bar tape. Was that enough? Hell, no! It was time to break out the paint brushes and spray gun to touch up the frame decals, headset spacers, seat post clamp and bottle cage.

Sleek, fast and comfortable, this is a Strada Classic designed to win hearts as well as races.

What You Say

My bike is smooth as silk and better than new!! It is always a pleasure to ride after a trip to BMCR. Only trouble is I seem to be acquiring more bikes than I can afford to maintain. Maybe I will have to sell one of the children.Bryn Richards
