A low-maintenance purple rocketship
Ross had two specific guidelines for this custom build:
He was also open to the concept of mixed components, a bitzer, if you will.
Oh, and could we also give it a particular aesthetic?
You bet we could!
This was a perfect opportunity to base a build around an All-City Super Professional, a frameset we'd had our eye on for a while. Look at that purple sparkle finish! How could anyone resist?
Now, to be perfectly honest, we knew that most of the budget would be in the frame: it's a quality frameset with a carbon Whisky fork to boot, so that meant we had to watch our pennies for the rest of the build.
We had already built Ross a set of DT Swiss wheels for another bike, so transferred those over to this one. (Does that count as money saved? Sure, why not.)
For the rest of the build, we went through our secret magic box of second-hand bits and pieces to create a simple but high-quality build kit. We even found an old Selle Italia Flite, which just happened to be one of Ross's favourite saddles! Talk about luck of the draw.
With the purple frame specced, Tektro disc brakes for stopping power, and some fun silver/black touches to boot, this Super Professional was ready to go, and Ross couldn't have been happier.

The wheel has performed great, thanks! I went in the Coast to Coast on the weekend and it was particularly smooth and responsive. Thanks for the high quality of workmanship and excellent customer service. I've told some others who I work with about my experience with BMCR and they are looking…Brendan Frears
