A sleek machine designed to eat up the roads
The brief
Chris wanted a lightweight road bike, but didn't want the fragility of a carbon frameset. A Bossi Strada custom build was the logical answer.
The bike
With the frame all set, the next step was a groupset. For road bikes, it's hard to go past Shimano Ultegra, the most popular groupset in the world. Why? Because it hits 80-90% of the performance of Dura Ace, but at a significantly lower price point. We went with Di2 because, as we always say, if you can afford electronic, go electronic. (In a nutshell, it's faster to shift, more efficient, looks cleaner, and requires less maintenance.)
For the rest of the build, we concentrated on weight and aerodynamics.
A set of Bossi carbon wheels with 40mm rims offered a great compromise between aerodynamics and not being affected too badly by cross-winds. Continental GP5000s tyres kept things fast and light.
For the saddle, we opted for an SQLab 612R carbon-railed model for its great ergonomics and light weight. These same properties apply to the Easton EC70 SL bars, too.
With some tactile and grippy Zipp handlebar tape, this Strada was ready to roll.
