Adam's Bossi Strada

He wanted titanium, and we had a plan

Home / Build Gallery / Adam's Bossi Strada

The brief

Adam was looking for a titanium road bike, and the Bossi Strada had caught his eye.

Actually, it was the Bossi Strada Classic that had caught his eye — a simplified version of the regular Strada, with features such as external shift routing and a simplified head tube, and thus a lower price point.

The problem was that the Classic was a discontinued model, and no frames were left in Adam's size.

So what could we do? Bail on the build? Tell Adam to find a different brand? Hell no.

This is why we love working with brands like Bossi; they're responsive to both customers and dealers. We liaised with Mr Bossi, and between us came up with a plan that would allow us to create a bike that everyone would be happy with.

The bike

With our plan in place, we based Adam's build around the Strada frame rather than the Strada Classic version. While the Classic was a fantastic frame, sharing the same premium titanium construction and manufacturing quality as the Strada, the regular Strada offered some key advantages, including fully integrated cable routing, a T47 bottom bracket, and a more refined head tube design.

We specced a Shimano 105 Di2 groupset to take full advantage of the Strada's electronic-only design. For wheels, a set of Shimano RS710s kept things rolling (ba-da-bing), paired with Schwalbe One tyres for excellent everyday durability.

By being strategic with component selection (i.e. choosing performance-oriented but value-conscious options), we were able to deliver a premium titanium road bike that stayed within Adam's budget. To this end, a reliable Easton EA70 aluminium stem and Pro PTL Ergo bars were perfect for the front end, and an Ergon SR Pro road saddle was selected to suit Adam's riding position and sit bone measurement.

Adam wanted an understated aesthetic so we kept the look lean, finishing things off with Ciclovation tape and carbon bottle cages, plus a dash of subtle sparkle air-brushed by hand onto the headtube. (We can't help ourselves.)

In the end, we were able to create a much better bike than the Classic build would have been, delivering the refined ride quality and design of the Strada without blowing the budget.

But what does Adam think?

"The bike is super good; very happy with the build. It feels like I’m driving a Mercedes Benz."

Happy days.

What You Say

I have ridden a few miles now since my first extensive bike service with BMCR. This was not a cheap bike service, however it was exactly what I was looking for. No band-aid fixes here. What is offered is an excellent ‘value for money’ complete bike service. I often ride early morning in the dark…Richard Wilson
