The myriad mounting points let you run panniers on the front and back, or you can use the fork mounting points for an Anything Cage instead. You can add mudguards for all-weather protection, plus keep your snacks close at hand with the top tube bag mounts.
With the flat bars, you'll also have a slightly more upright position than with a drop-bar model. This is not a trundling-along-getting-passed-by-tractors bike, though: this is a bike which will get you where you want to go, and in time to pitch your tent before dark.
