Light, strong and designed for performance
Newmen is a company born out of a passion for precision engineering and innovation in bicycle components. Its industry pedigree is undeniable: Newmen is the brainchild of Michi Grätz, co-founder of Liteville*, who left in 2015 to launch his own brand the following year.
Newmen launched initially with wheels, hubs and aluminium rims. The range soon expanded into carbon rims, seat posts, head stems, handlebars, pedals, grips and cranks... and a new industry leader was born.
Based in the Bavarian Alps, Newmen’s focus is on creating super-lightweight, highly durable and reliable products through cutting-edge design and advanced materials. All components are tested in-house using state-of-the-art technology to ensure they meet the highest standards of performance and safety.
Not only is the quality exceptional, but they’re also very well-priced. (Always a bonus.)
Let’s check out some of their most popular product lines.
Newmen wheels are incredibly strong, and their rims are among the lightest on the market.
If you’re a mountain biker, Newmen's MTB wheels cater to every discipline, from cross-country racing to downhill. Their lightweight carbon wheels deliver high-performance speed and handling, while the aluminium models offer unparalleled durability, even on the toughest downhill tracks. Regardless of whether you're aiming for a podium finish or just want to spend all day smashing the trails, Newmen wheels’ proprietary designs and high-quality materials will give you maximum bang for your buck. As they say, they are “virtually indestructible.”
For gravel enthusiasts, Newmen offers lightweight, wide wheels. They sacrifice none of the robustness of the MTB wheels nor the lightness of their road wheels, offering you exceptional performance, whether you’re racing or doing multi-day trips.
Optimised for acceleration, aerodynamics and comfort, Newmen road wheels are available in multiple rim depths, covering competition, endurance and gravel riding. Like their MTB rims, Newmen’s carbon aero rims are extensively and rigorously tested—including breakage and impact tests—at their in-house test laboratory, to ensure competitiveness at the highest levels. Their Streem carbon road wheels have already proven their worth in WorldTour events, including the Giro d’Italia, La Vuelta, and Tour de France.
In a move that sets them apart from other wheel manufacturers, Newmen’s philosophy is to develop their road rims as part of a complete system wheel, rather than as individual components; they believe that the rim, spokes and hub must be perfectly matched together to create a first-class aero road wheel. This approach means that they don’t sell their road rims individually – only as part of a complete wheelset. (Newmen gravel and MTB rims are available by themselves, however, if you’re wanting a non-road custom-built wheelset.)
All Newmen rims and wheels are tubeless-ready, and are covered by a 3 year warranty, excluding bearings. Newmen also offer a crash replacement policy of 50% off RRP for 3 years after purchase (or lifetime for all Newmen carbon rims from 2020).
Newmen hubs, featuring their FADE technology, are designed for maximum wear and performance.
Known for their low noise and smooth engagement, FADE hubs use three large pawls for reliable performance across road, gravel, and mountain bike applications. Reinforced in key areas, these hubs are extremely reliable and also long-lasting – their special bearing seal prevents water and dirt ingress, and provides maximum corrosion protection. Newmen’s FADE rear hubs are also designed to minimise freewheel noise (so you don’t have to be that CLACKETY-CLACKETY-CLACK person in the group).
Despite their reinforced design, FADE hubs are among the lightest in their class, and aerodynamically optimised for all riding styles, including mountain biking. Compatible with Shimano, SRAM and other brands, they’re an ideal choice for strength, weight and performance.
When you think of the easiest ways to add some comfort to your ride, a carbon seat post isn’t always the first thing you think of. But it should be, because the right one makes all the difference.
Newmen’s Advanced carbon seat post weighs just 215g and is available in multiple diameters and lengths. It provides just the right amount of flex to enhance rider comfort, making it perfect for long days in the saddle. Compatible with carbon saddle rails, the Advanced post is as versatile as it is lightweight.
It’s also not a bastard to set up and adjust, unlike countless other brands that we’ve come across in the workshop. (This is also how you know this page was written by bike mechanics, rather than a marketing team.)
Newmen’s Evolution head stems are crafted from 3D hollow-forged aluminium for maximum stiffness without added weight. With lengths ranging from 30mm to 130mm, they can be tailored to fit a wide variety of riding preferences and styles. Their famous Evolution SL318.2 stem features the instantly recognisable two-bolt design, and is the product of Newmen’s quest to develop the lightest oversized stem possible which was stronger and stiffer than anything else available on the market.
Newmen’s handlebars are designed for performance and comfort, offering options for both road, gravel and mountain biking.
The Wing Bar Advanced 318 is a lightweight carbon option for road bikes, delivering a comfortable hand position with a moderate drop, ideal for long rides. The Advanced G 318 gravel handlebar offers a natural hand position, and includes a specially designed thumb cut-out for maximum comfort on rugged terrain. Available in multiple widths, these bars are versatile and ergonomic, and can also be run with internal or external cabling.
From mountain bikers, Newmen offer bars catering to every discipline, including cross-country, enduro and downhill, in carbon as well as aluminium models and in different rises.
Newmen have also invented the VariGrip system, which allows for up to 50mm of adjustable handlebar width for ultimate flexibility and control. The VariGrip comprises two threaded pieces – one in the handlebars and one in the corresponding grips – which allow the handlebars to be adjusted by 25mm on either side. Reinforced sleeves provide stability at any width, and the system can be used easily and safely, even when you’re out on the trail.
Looking at these grips in a bit more detail, there are three VariGrip models: the Resia (for downhill and hard enduro), the Slat (for trail riding through to aggressive enduro) and the Blok (for all kinds of mountain biking).
The Slat and Resia grips use a soft compound to provide excellent damping, whereas the Blok is a more traditional grip, designed for comfort across a range of MTB applications.
VariGrips are also available in multiple colours, because who doesn’t like being able to add a personalised touch to their ride?
Newmen’s Beskar flat pedals offers excellent grip with a large, concave platform and eight replaceable stainless steel pins. Interestingly, the lack of pins in the centre of the platform means that you can reposition your foot easily when required.
The titanium axle keeps the Beskar’s weight down to just 295g, while the floating bearing system ensures smooth operation without play.
Durable, comfortable and grippy, these pedals are designed for high performance, even on the toughest trails.
And that’s your guide to Newmen!
