Bossi Grit | Patrick's Custom Build

A truly stunning commuter

Home / Build Gallery / Patrick's Bossi Grit

The brief

When all of Patrick's bikes were stolen, he not only needed a Open to replace his old one, but also a bike for daily commuting.

Patrick has impeccable taste, so what else would do but a Bossi Grit?

The bike

We used a SRAM Force 1 groupset for this build because it offers great value for money and it's also super-reliable.

Because this would be Patrick's daily commuter, we wanted to make the bike as user-friendly as possible so we included a dynamo lighting system. This way, he'd never need to think about whether or not his lights were on the bike....because they're always on the bike!

We used a DT Swiss rear hub (like the SRAM groupset, it's just so dependable) and some really nice DT gravel rims.

Schwalbe G-One tyres came into the picture as they offer the perfect blend of speed, grip and comfort.

We went for Easton bars and stem as well as an Ergon SR Pro saddle because they're such a comfortable way to go (and what's the point of having a commuter if it's not comfy?).

Patrick also needed a rear rack and although the Salsa rack was specifically designed for their Alternator dropout system, it happened to be the perfect rack for this frame. It looks like it was almost custom-made for the Bossi.

We finished the build with some Busch & Muller lights, silver SKS mud guards, stainless steel Arundel bottle cages and some ever-reliable Shimano pedals.

The result? A commuter as reliable as it is beautiful.

What You Say

It's brilliant. I didn't think the poor old bike was too bad before - but it's like chalk & cheese! So quiet! Thanks & see you again soon.Alan Hixson
