A drop-bar bike perfect for the trails and beyond
You've heard the expression 'built from the ground up', right? Well, the Grappler was built from the bars down.
Yup, Surly started with the handlebars -- Salsa Cowchippers, to be precise -- and designed the Grappler around them to create a dedicated drop-bar trail bike.
If you're expecting bags of tyre clearance, disc brakes, grippy tyres and multiple mounting points, you won't be disappointed. There are even two new mounts just above the drop-outs, plus a dropper post so you can quickly adjust your position to suit the terrain.
The Grappler can do gravel, but singletrack and off-road touring is where it shines. Stable, nimble and versatile, it'll take you off the beaten path and beyond.
NOTE: having trouble finding a Grappler due to stock shortages? You might want to check out the Genesis range.
It ran like a dream in the adventure race. I especially appreciated the work you did on the brakes; lots of people complained that theirs weren't working properly and mine were solid all day. There was an awesome downhill and some people had to walk their bikes due to a lack of braking...Ray Scheuboeck
